What Actually Happens When You Surrender a Dog to Us

Step by step, with no judgement — what a surrender call looks like from our side.
Calling a rescue about your own dog is hard. Here is exactly what happens so it is less frightening.
The first call
We ask about age, weight, health, bite history and why you are surrendering. Honest answers protect the dog and the next home. Nobody lectures you.
We may not have space today
We are a small volunteer rescue. If we are full we will say so and try to help with courtesy listings, rehoming advice or other rescues. We would rather be honest than take a dog we cannot place.
Intake
If we can take the dog we arrange a handover, collect vet records, and get the dog into a foster or boarding placement. Bring any medication, food and paperwork.
What we need from you
Everything you know about the dog: triggers, favourite toys, how they behave at the vet, how they are with cats. This information decides how fast we can place them.
After
We do not report you, publicise your name, or chase you for money. Surrender fees are requested when possible because vetting costs money, but nobody is turned away for being broke.
