Royal Kennels Rescue is an Arizona Cane Corso rescue based in the Queen Creek and San Tan Valley area. We rescue Cane Corsos and Corso mixes from Arizona shelters, animal control holds and owner surrenders, provide veterinary care and rehabilitation in local foster homes, and adopt them out to screened homes across the state.

Most of our fosters are in the East Valley, so intake and adoption move fastest around Queen Creek, San Tan Valley, Gilbert, Mesa, Chandler and Apache Junction. We regularly pull from Phoenix, Glendale, Casa Grande, Coolidge, Florence, Maricopa and Tucson, and we take calls from rural county shelters anywhere in Arizona.
Why Arizona has a Cane Corso problem
Arizona's backyard-breeding market produced far more Cane Corsos than there are qualified homes. Dogs bought at eight weeks as protection dogs or status symbols hit adolescence untrained, and land in county shelters that are already at capacity with large-breed dogs. Corsos sit longest and get adopted least. That is the gap we fill.
Owning a Cane Corso in the Arizona climate
- Heat: exercise before sunrise or after dark from May through September. Pavement that is comfortable to your bare hand is safe; anything hotter is not.
- Valley fever: endemic in central and southern Arizona. We test dogs with a persistent cough, lameness or weight loss, and treat before placement.
- Housing: Corsos live indoors here. No exceptions in our contract.
- Rentals: many Phoenix-metro rentals and HOAs restrict the breed — confirm in writing before you apply.

We work alongside municipal shelters and other Arizona rescues rather than competing with them. If we cannot take a dog because every foster home is full, we will try to connect the dog with a partner group and stay involved.

What should Arizona Cane Corso owners know about the heat?
Cane Corsos are heavy, dark-coated and moderately brachycephalic, which makes Arizona summers genuinely dangerous for them. Walk before sunrise or well after sunset, never on pavement above about 85°F, provide shade and constant water, and know the early signs of heat stroke. Valley fever is also endemic here and we test dogs that show symptoms.
