Adoption
How do I adopt a Cane Corso from Royal Kennels Rescue?
Browse our adoptable dogs, submit an application, complete a phone screen and home check, then meet the dog at their foster home. We'll move at a pace that works for you and the dog.
How much is the adoption fee?
$450 for adults and $250 for seniors. It covers spay or neuter, core vaccines, microchip with registration, deworming, heartworm testing and any medical care given in our program.
Do you have Cane Corso puppies?
Occasionally, when a pregnant female or a litter comes into rescue. We never breed and we do not maintain a puppy waiting list. Adult dogs are a far safer bet for most homes anyway — you can see the temperament you are getting.
Can I adopt if I live outside Arizona?
We prioritize Arizona homes so we can complete a home check and provide post-adoption support. Neighbouring-state applicants are considered case by case, with transport arranged by the adopter.
Do you place dogs with children?
Yes, depending on the dog. Many of our Corsos do well with respectful older children. Very few are suitable for homes with toddlers, and we will say so plainly.
Surrender and intake
How do I surrender my Cane Corso?
Use the intake form on our surrender page. Include age, sex, altered status, vet history and an honest behaviour and bite history. We never charge a surrender fee.
I found a stray Cane Corso — what should I do?
Contact your local Arizona animal control first so the dog is logged and any owner can find them, then message us. We can often help with fostering or evaluation while the stray hold runs.
Will you take a dog with a bite history?
Sometimes. We assess severity, context and whether the dog can be safely placed. Full honesty about history is a condition of intake.
Fostering, volunteering and donations
What does fostering cost me?
Nothing. We cover all veterinary care, food and equipment. You provide the home, the structure and honest feedback about the dog.
Is my donation tax deductible?
Contact us for our current nonprofit status and paperwork before claiming a deduction, and we will send you exactly what your accountant needs.
Where does donation money go?
Veterinary care, medication, food, crates and transport. We are volunteer-run with no salaries and no kennel facility.
The breed
Are Cane Corsos dangerous?
They are powerful guardian dogs, which means the consequences of poor training are higher than with a small breed. A well-bred, well-socialised, well-managed Cane Corso is a stable, discerning family dog. The breed's reputation comes overwhelmingly from how individual dogs were raised and contained.
How much exercise does a Cane Corso need?
Around an hour of walking daily plus mental work. They are calm indoors but need consistent outlets.
How long do Cane Corsos live?
Typically nine to twelve years.
